NATURAL HERITAGE

Different ecosystems can be found from the depth of the valleys where the rivers run, to the top of the mountains.

In the lowest areas there is a strong Mediterranian influence: meadows, rivers and forests. In the middle of the mountain important pine forests and also meadows exist.

In the high mountain areas there are pine forests and meadows and in the downhill skiing zone, rocks and vegetation.

Throughout the whole region we can discover the different species of flora and fauna typical of the Pyrenees, such as bears, roe deer, fawns, golden eagles, etc. Some of these species are particularly important like the small lizards from Pallars Sobirà.

The presence of snow means that the animals have to totally adapt to their environment, like the white partridge for example.
