In 1968 the National Hunting Reserve was founded in Vall Ferrera.

Nowadays hunting in the area has increased notably due to the immigration of species from other areas of the Pyrenees, such as fallow deer, deer, mouflon and the atochthonous roe deer and chamois.

Hunting is controlled by the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Civil Service through a series of technical programmes to control the fauna that can be hunted and protected animals.

Everything is under the control of the Generalitat’s gamekeepers.

We must not forget the hunting of the wild boar.

A number of licences are auctioned to the landowners, as well as to the local and regional hunters.

“La Societat de Caça” (Hunting Society) takes an active part in its control and management.
